CREATIVE RELATION, formerly known as Resident Movement, launched May 2018 in Detroit. The collaborative effort brought the City of Detroit, Paxahau, We Are Culture Creators and Monique Becker together with 25 emerging creative professionals. The pilot initially aimed to increase access to Movement Music Festival, the City's largest music festival with longstanding cultural significance. The focus quickly blossomed to include a partnership with Mo Pop Festival, education on opportunity, civic engagement, inclusive community development and ownership. Through mutually beneficial partnerships with municipalities, businesses and more, CREATIVE RELATION supports investment in place and people, enabling greater equity in Detroit's creative economy.
"Through Creative Relation, young Detroit creatives are provided access and equity to unique spaces and influential people. Whether it is meeting with the heads of City Departments, the Mayor or festival organizers, the opportunity to forge alliances and flesh out action plans to better serve the creative community is crucial to the success of our City."
