Monique is an art and design lover and collector that appreciates the union of vintage and contemporary styles. This aesthetic interest carries over into Monique's passion for connecting people across lines of difference, which is essential for innovation and mutual growth.
Monique is co-founder and Partner of Mona Lisa Development, which focuses on adaptive reuse of duplexes in Detroit. She formerly worked as Director of Development for Shelborne Development, where she oversaw project architects, contractors, lenders, municipal partners and others to ensure the maintenance of project vision and schedule across the portfolio. Prior to joining Shelborne, Monique worked for The Platform leading community engagement, investor relations for the company's $75 million fund and development management.
The education of Detroiters has always been a priority for Monique. She previously taught second grade in the City and is currently a Teaching Assistant for Better Buildings Better Blocks. This course teaches the essentials of small-scale real estate development to City residents, in partnership with University of Michigan, The Platform and Building Community Value.
As a founder and Managing Director, Monique leads the organization's strategic direction, partnerships and fundraising efforts.
